Community Outreach:

The outreach ministry of Woodbury encompasses many facets of hospitality and mission.  In hospitality we open our doors and hearts to all people in the name of Christ.  In mission we bear witness to God’s love to neighbors both near and far. This ministry is exciting and alive!

Community outreach programs include a wonderful Music in the Village concert in July, a beautiful Living Nativity with live animals and human portrayals held in Advent, a fun-filled Memorial Talent Show which benefits outreach causes,  monthly community free pancake breakfasts, and a busy food pantry which is open to the community once a month.

The church maintains a relationship with the Conimicut Village Association which works to improve community spirit and beautification.

Hunger is an important mission focus.  A food drive is held in October for the food pantry and donations continue throughout the year.. A Two Cents A Meal program raises funds for the  pantry. The church is partnered with Bread for the World which advocates for change in hunger programs through legislation.

Organizations supported by Woodbury include Church World Service Gift of Heart Kits and CROP Walks, Heifer Project International,  the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center, RI Family Shelter, and prison ministry.  Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets are provided for local families and Christmas gifts are given to foster teens in care of the Department of Children and Their Families.

The congregation supports Nancy Collins, a PC(USA) mission worker, serving in Cairo, Egypt.

Two denominational offerings are supported by the congregation:  The Peacemaking Program of the PC(USA) and One Great Hour of Sharing.  The church also supports the denomination through its mission pledge.

Many wonderful people contribute to the outreach ministry at Woodbury.  Through service, benevolence, and hospitality we seek to do God’s will in our community and in the world.
